Facial trauma reconstruction & repair

All of our surgeons manage facial fractures. This includes fractures of the eye sockets, top and bottom jaws, nasal bones and forehead. Typically the types of injuries seen in our practice are a result of sporting injuries and accidents. Work related injuries are also commonly treated.

Repair of facial fractures usually requires an inpatient hospital stay and fixation of the injured bones with very small titanium plates and screws

More complex facial injuries such as those sustained in motor vehicle accidents are usually treated in a public hospital setting, particularly if there are multiple other injuries. Dr Reid consults at The Princess Alexandra Hospital and manages these injuries on a regular basis and is involved in training future Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
